This is your first private session with an Always Running coach. During this time, we will continue an in-depth review of your personal history, workout history and your lifestyle.
We will watch you run and will want to learn of any injuries/discomfort you've had in the past, such as problems with knees, shins, and hips or lower back. Even if the pain is slight now, as you start to train more, you may feel the impact. While watching you run, we assess your mechanics as the motion is transferred from your feet to you knees, hips and back. This information is vital in predicting and preventing some of the most common injuries. Based on our assessment, we may also recommend a professional medical consultant for an evaluation. This fitness test is conducted to find your current level of conditioning. This test can be completed using the treadmill, elliptical trainer or recumbent bike. A heart rate monitor will be used during your fitness test to gather baseline data. Muscle tightness and flexibility can be a major source of injury; therefore, we will do a few diagnostic stretches with you to see how flexible your various muscles groups are. By assessing and defining which muscle groups are tight, we can address how this may affect your biomechanical functions. |
